Hello! My name is Maria Smith and I am excited to begin working with the students in Mrs. Todd's class. I look forward to contributing to the warm, supportive, and rich learning environment that Mrs. Todd has created in her classroom. I am also delighted and thrilled to become apart of the Cedar Wood community!
A little about me:
My journey to education has been long. I began working at a local grocery store in 1997, where I completed sixteen years service. During that time, I discovered my passion for environment. As a result, I sought out a degree in Environmental Studies. After graduating from the University of Washington in 2010, I began teaching Environmental Education to primary elementary students for the Seattle Parks Department This is where I discovered my next passion: education. Currently, I am completing my Masters in Teaching program at Seattle University.
During my spare time, I am either backpacking or hiking in the Cascade mountains. I am fascinated by volcanoes and glaciers, which is why I usually spend my summers exploring the subalpine and alpine areas of Washington! The picture of Mt. Baker at the top of the page was taken by me at the Three Fingers Lookout. When I am not hiking, then I am playing board games with friends.
