Why chose to study The early northwest coast people storypath?
The Early Northwest Coast People Storypath unit examines the history of a familiar environment and culture through role-play. Students will understand first-hand that all people have wants and needs, which are shaped by the resources that humans need to survive. Moreover, learners will witness that the resources available on a section of land may make one place more desirable than another. With this groundwork, students will understand the importance of democratic ideals by evaluating the impact of government decisions on local communities and culture. Learners will witness in their role-play communities how life and culture can evolve as a consequence of individual and group decisions. The results that occur within their role-play communities will demonstrate the importance of being an informed citizen and provide a context for how being socially and culturally knowledgeable is connected to participating in a democratic society.
